Isriyati is one of the few public relations officers who work according to their educational background. Namely, the Department of Communication Studies, Diponegoro University, Semarang.
JAKARTA, PRINDONESIA.CO – Initially, the woman who had just been granted with the PR INDONESIA Fellowship Program 2020-2021 was placed in the General Section of Secretariat Kebumen’s Regional Secretariat as a protocol in 2011. Six months later, Isriyati became a Public Relations Officer in the Public Relations Division of the Regional House of Representatives Secretariat (Setwan). In 2019, she carried out her new role as a public relations officer for the Regional Secretariat (Setda).
She admits that she adapts quickly. Because, the basic knowledge of public relations has been obtained since college. While in practice, she had an internship in the public relations department of a SOE. "At that time, the public relations model was still conventional, not like it is today," she recalled. However, from that experience, Isriyati learned about media monitoring, media gathering, to how to deal with complaints.
According to her, working as a public relations officer in both the Setwan and the Regional Secretariat of Kebumen Regency is the same. It's just the "taste" that is different. Public relations activities in Setwan were more emphasized on efforts to maintain and manage the reputation of 50 Regional House of Representatives members and their institutions. This task was not easy. Moreover, during 2014 – 2017, this institution was in a state of crisis of trust.
