SEMARANG, PRINDONESIA.CO - This belief is always embedded in Akbar's mind, the man who last November was awarded as the main winner of PR INDONESIA ICONfor the 2018 – 2019period. Thatbelief was even greater especially since he was given the mandate as the Community Engagement Program of PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI).

This 27-year-old man is determined to change the mindset of the community towards the railwayindustry which has still been given a negative stigma from the public. One of them is about security, such as the potential for sexual harassment and robbery. "Actually, if compared to the railways in Europe, the conditions in our country are still much safer," said Akbar, who was met by PR INDONESIA between the PR INDONESIA Jamboree #4 (JAMPIRO) workshop session in Semarang on Thursday (8/11/2018).

Meanwhile to increase comfort, KCI has Edu Trip.Edu Trip is a program that aims to educate the public about culture and how to do good and right in using transportation. "Starting from the simple ones: queuing. To be honest, our society is the most difficult if asked to queue,"said the man who was born and raised in Jakarta.

The responsibility that is carried by the man who likes to study the social behavior of the society is not easy. It needs patience and extra hard effort. The tips, Akbar routinely build relations with train lover communities. One of them is by building engagement through  the "Road to DAOP" activities.

Akbar took the advantage of that opportunity to hear and dig up as much information about the conditions of each station from the users in real terms on the field. As a result of his approach, he then made it as a material to form a communication strategy and then forwarded it to the WhatsApp group. "Although the information is personal, but the impact is mass," said the man who actively campaigned for the #AyoNaikKRL on each of his Instagram upload.

Love Cooking

Who would have thought, even though PR had become his identity, he had chosen the wrong course in college. Feeling incompatible with his character, he decided to resign and switch to the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Sahid University, Jakarta. "PR is my blood," said the man who claimed to have a certainfeeling of pride each time he is wearing the KCI uniform. Even though it sounds cliché, but from the uniform he wears, there is a big responsibility that he carries. He argued that this feeling would only be awakened if he had a great love for the profession, such as his love of public relations.

In the midst of educating the public, Akbar always took the time to channel his cooking hobby. Especially in every weekend with his beloved mother. In addition, the youngest of four siblings also often took the time to exercise after work. His participation in the PR INDONESIA ICON event was inseparable from the encouragement of his colleagues. He is more motivated because the word icon itself is identic with activities to educate, promote and exert influence, especially students of Communication Studies/PR. "From there I thought, God willing, I already have the knowledge," he concluded. (bel)
